      The History in a nutshell;
                                                           Inter-Drain

It started with Draiëntie.

The beginnings of Draiëntie/Inter-Drain were in 1955. In 1953 the Netherlands was hit by severe weather. Heavy winds and high tides caused major flooding and wide areas of the Netherlands’ agricultural lands were under water.

With "Necessity, being the mother of invention" and good farm drainage machines not being available, the brothers, van den Ende started a factory in Borssele, located in the southwest part of Holland to design and build their first machines. In the mid '60s one of the van den Ende brothers started his own factory "Draiëntie" in Tiel, Holland.

Draiëntie/Inter-Drain is still located there today. The facility in Tiel was very successful from the start. The first machines were designed to lay clay pipes. These machines were built using World War II under-carriage parts, with self made digging chain and tracks with wooden pads.

Draiëntie became well known in the Netherlands, Germany and the rest of Europe. After a few years, Draiëntie received a major order for 15 machines, to be delivered to Egypt. This was the first order to be delivered in a new market.

When Draiëntie became Inter-Drain

In 1983, Draiëntie, Holland merged with Inter-Drain, Scotland. Together they introduced a new range of top quality modern drainage machines built with components that would be readily available in all parts of the world. In 1987, Hans van der Gaag, general manager since 1979, took over the company. To day, Draiëntie/Inter-Drain manufactures plows, trenchers with both hydraulic and mechanical drives and rock trenchers.

Since 1984, Inter-Drain has delivered over 500 machines for shipment around the world. It currently manufactures machines for delivery to western Europe, US, Mexico, Canada, Middle East, Far East, South America and Australia.

Over the past years, there have been radical changes to the drainage equipment industry. Only 15 years ago, trenchers were designed to go to a maximum depth of 10ft. Today, it is only the beginning. Today, the range offers contractors 2 to 24ft. digging depths, 210 to 800 hp and a variety of chain and plow configurations. The machines can perform numerous tasks other than farm drainage, too. "Many contractors today are looking to diversify their operations to make them productive even in slow periods in the farm drainage area - New designs and improvements have made this possible". The hydraulic machines also allow for installation of dewatering, slurry walls, concrete footers, and so on.

Early in 1998, a new facility for manufacturing, storage for parts and service was put into operation.

In the new facility the development of new machines did not stop. For example in 1998 Inter-Drain manufactured the 2030SP plow, in 1999 Inter-Drain re-introduced the Inter-Drain 1824T mechanical chain trencher and designed in 2000 a brand new millennium trencher, the Inter-Drain 1622HT hydraulic chain trencher. In 2002 we developed a new machine the 1515HT hydraulic chain trencher.
